THE ART OF MUSIC VIDEO
What happens when artistic mediums begin to merge?
From June 12 -19th, The NE Inc, VOCAB Communications in conjunction with the Sleeping Giant (789 Dundas St.) art gallery will experience a merge of art forms Toronto has never seen before. By combining the art of music video creation with the medium of photography, The Art of Music Video art show will display blown up photographs of music artists’, stills of music videos and raw footage video installations, to emphasize the artistry that goes into creating hip-hop, rock and pop music art.
Being one of the top recognizable Much Music Video & MTV award winning music video production houses in Canada, it is only expected The NE would play host to a new way of looking at music videos.
The Art of Music Video is intended to blur the lines between photography and filmography as it freezes moments in music videos, focusing the audience to the carefully constructed details that go into the production of these often discarded works of art. The important photographic elements of the music video that are present in most other forms of photography (setting, fashion, performance expression) will be given their due time to be thoughtfully deciphered and considered. For the first time in music video history, the “music” will be separated from the “video” and be given its time to be observed for what it is, raw inspiration captured on film.

Liberal MPP Peter Fonseca has been MIFFED!
MISSISSAUGA, June 3 – Officially announced, Liberal MPP, Peter Fonseca, will be speaking at The Mississauga Independent Film Festival (MIFF) 2009 Official Film Selection Announcement.
The Mississauga Independent Film Festival in conjunction with The Ontario Trillium Foundation is the meeting place for the next generation of Canadian talent. MIFF has been coined the most filmmaker-friendly festival to date. Designed with the understanding of how exclusive, anonymous and unapproachable most big film festivals can seem, MIFF takes the opposite approach. Keeping submission fees low, encouraging local talent, hosting workshops with industry leaders, and keeping the festival competition all-Canadian; are just a few of the ways MIFF is helping Canada’s growing digital indie movement make its way into the mainstream.
Liberal MPP Peter Fonseca’s speech and the 2009 MIFF Official Selection Announcement & Media Preview will take place at 2:00pm Friday, June 5th at the CineStarz Theatre, 377 Burnhamthorpe Road East in Mississauga. Directly after the official announcement and the unveiling of the 2009 MIFF Film Show Reels, will be a screening of MIFF 2008’s Winner for Best Feature: Who Loves the Sun, directed by Matt Bissonnette.
The Mississauga International Film Festival (www.miff.ca ) runs from July 8 – 12th, with screenings at CineStarz Theatre, along with opening gala at the Mississauga Art Gallery, nightly networking events and closing night award presentation at West 50 Pourhouse & Grill

The Mississauga International Film Festival runs from July 8 – 12th, with screenings at CineStarz Theatre, along with opening gala at the Mississauga Art Gallery, nightly networking events and closing night award presentation at West 50 Pourhouse & Grill.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation since 1982 helped build healthy and vibrant communities, by strengthening the capacity of the voluntary sector through investments in community-based initiatives. This is reflected in their granting priorities that enable organizations to build on their strengths and develop new ideas.
